32-12-49.1. Point system for offenses--Number of points charged.

The following is a listing of moving traffic offenses and the number of points assessed for a conviction for each offense:

(1)Driving while intoxicated ten points

(2)Reckless drivingeight points

(3)Eluding/attempting to elude a police officersix points

(4)Drag racingsix points

(5)Failure to yield right-of-wayfour points

(6)Improper passingfour points

(7)Driving on wrong side of roadwayfour points

(8)Stop sign/light violationthree points

(9)Other moving offensestwo points

For the purpose of this section, "other moving offenses" does not include speeding offenses.
