Code Commissioner's Note

The amendment of this section by 2016 Act No. 186, Section 3, effective May 25, 2017, was read together with the amendment of this section by 2016 Act No. 275, Section 54, effective July 1, 2016. The Code Commissioner finds that it is the intent of the General Assembly to bring into effect the provisions of both acts because of the simultaneous nature of the movement of both pieces of legislation through the General Assembly. The Code Commissioner deems the amendment of this section made by Act 275 was made with the understanding that the amendment would be temporary, and that the amendment of this section made by Act 186 would become effective May 25, 2017.

Effect of Amendment

The 2008 amendment in the first sentence added "and motorcycles".

The 2012 amendment removed "in Korea" throughout the section.

2016 Act No. 275, Section 54, effective from July 1, 2016 until May 25, 2017, amended the section, providing that all or a portion of the fees or fines collected by the department of motor vehicles shall be credited to the state highway fund.

2016 Act No. 186, Section 3, effective May 25, 2017, amended the section, deleting the prior last three sentences relating to fees, and adding the current last sentence providing that there be no fee.
