§ 42-66.4-1 Purpose. – (a) The director of the department of elderly affairs and the director of the department of human services shall cooperate and collaborate in obtaining approval from the health care financing administration for a home and community based services waiver. The waiver shall be designated to bring people who have been admitted to a skilled nursing and/or intermediate care facility back into the community. The waiver shall be reviewed and expanded periodically as funding is made available.

(b) The department of elderly affairs shall effectuate a coordinated outreach and education program to create an awareness of the alternatives to placement in a skilled nursing and/or intermediate care facility. The outreach and education program shall be directed to both health care providers and potential clients.
