§ 187a - Ponce Massacre

(a) The sector of Marina Street between Aurora and Jobos Streets is hereby declared a historical zone of the municipality of Ponce.

Planning Board Regulation No. 5, which deals with antique and historical zones, shall be fully applicable to the historical zone created in Ponce by this section.

(b) The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture shall be charged with the custody, conservation and maintenance of the zone. In commemoration of the forty-ninth (XLIX) anniversary of the Ponce Massacre, the Institute shall place an embossed placque which shall concisely narrate the events that occurred, as gathered from the Report of the Hayes Committee, and shall include the names of the 21 martyrs, on the building located at the corner of Marina and Aurora Streets, where the Nationalist Party Committee in Ponce was located at the time.
