The Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, its agencies and instrumentalities, public or quasi-public corporations, municipalities, and those private enterprises mentioned in § 509 of this title, and which employ twenty-five (25) or more persons, and those which employ fifteen (15) or more persons as of July 26, 1994, regardless of whether or not they receive financial resources from the Commonwealth, shall be bound to carry out reasonable accommodations in the workplace in order to ensure that qualified disabled persons will be allowed to work effectively and to the maximum of their productivity, except when the employer is able to prove that such reasonable accommodations would represent an extremely onerous burden for the enterprise in financial terms.
