Los funcionarios y empleados elegibles que han acumulado por lo menos cinco (5) años de servicio como tales, pueden solicitar una licencia sabática conforme lo dispuesto en las secs. 291 a 295u de este título y el reglamento que adopte el Secretario a estos efectos. La licencia sabática puede concederse por un período máximo de un (1) año, excepto cuando por la naturaleza de los estudios, adiestramiento o investigación se determine otra cosa. El personal elegible se comprometerá a prestar servicios al Departamento por un período equivalente al doble de la duración de la licencia sabática que se le conceda.
