A health insurance policy other than a disability income policy shall provide coverage or reimbursement of expenses for the medical treatment of injuries or illnesses caused in whole or in part by the insured s use of alcohol or a controlled substance to the same extent as and subject to limitations no more restrictive than those imposed on coverage or reimbursement of expenses arising from treatment of injuries or illnesses not caused by an insured s use of alcohol or a controlled substance.
