2019 Oklahoma Statutes
Title 14. Congressional and Legislative Districts
§14-134. Errors – Unassigned land.

Universal Citation: 14 OK Stat § 14-134 (2019)

A. The Legislature declares that careful and diligent efforts have been put forth in the preparation of the State House of Representatives districts described in this act to provide that each State House of Representatives district is as near equal in population to all other such districts as practicable; provided, however, if by some scrivener's error any census block has been inadvertently and unintentionally placed as to be noncontiguous with the remainder of the district to which it has been assigned, then it shall be the duty of the Legislature in 2012 to correct such scrivener's error to preserve the equality of population in such districts.

B. Any unassigned land within a district not specifically provided for in this act shall be construed to be a part of the district in which it is located.

C. If the State House of Representatives Redistricting Act of 2011 or the State Senate Redistricting Act of 2011 requires any county election board to create precincts pursuant to Section 3-116 of Title 26 of the Oklahoma Statutes where no persons reside, it shall be the duty of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate to adjust House or Senate district lines to prevent the creation of precincts where no persons reside. Any adjustment shall not affect the total population of any House or Senate district.

Added by Laws 2011, c. 285, § 2, eff. Nov. 1, 2011.
