§59-46.39. Alternative requirements for interior designer registration.

59 OK Stat § 59-46.39 (2014) What's This?

Any person who applies to become a registered interior designer and remits the application and initial fees after July 1, 2007, shall be registered by the Board of Governors of the Licensed Architects, Landscape Architects and Registered Interior Designers if:

1. In lieu of the requirement of an accredited professional degree, an applicant demonstrates, in accordance with this act, or in compliance with the Post-Military Service Occupation, Education and Credentialing Act and requirements as the Board adopts by rule, that the applicant has the interior design education and training that the Board deems equivalent to an accredited professional degree in interior design and the applicant has passed the examination of the Council for Interior Design Qualification or its successor, or an equivalent examination as determined by the Board; and

2. In lieu of the requirement of any professional degree, an applicant may provide documented proof of diversified and appropriate experience in the practice of interior design for a period of six (6) years and the applicant has passed the examination of the Council for Interior Design Qualification or its successor, or an equivalent examination as determined by the Board.

The Board has the authority to issue temporary registrations while qualifying the applicant in compliance with the Post-Military Service Occupation, Education and Credentialing Act.
