Chapter 2117: PRESENTMENT OF CLAIMS AGAINST ESTATE
2117.31 [Effective Until1/13/2012] Estate of deceased joint debtor.
When two or more persons are indebted in a joint contract, or upon a judgment founded on such contract, and either of them dies, his estate shall be liable therefor as if the contract had been joint and several, or as if the judgment had been against himself alone. This section shall not affect the rights of a surety, when certified as such, in a judgment rendered jointly against him and his principal.

2117.31 [Effective1/13/2012] Estate of deceased joint debtor
When two or more persons are indebted in a joint contract, or upon a judgment founded on the joint contract, and either of them dies, the decedent’s estate shall be liable for the debt as if the contract had been joint and several, or as if the judgment had been against the decedent alone. This section shall not affect the rights of a surety, when certified as such, in a judgment rendered jointly against the surety and the surety’s principal.
