2006 Ohio Revised Code - 3319.22. Pursuant to RC § 3319.22.2 we are retaining the version of RC § 3319.22 as it appeared before the repeal in S.B. 230 (146 v  - ), effective 10-29-96.

§ 3319.22. Grades and types of teaching certificates.
 

Teachers' certificates of statewide validity shall be issued pursuant to sections 3319.22 to 3319.31 of the Revised Code, or in accordance with standards and rules authorized by law. The grades of certificates shall be designated as "temporary certificates," "one-year vocational certificates," "provisional certificates," "professional certificates," and "permanent certificates." Each of such grades of certificates may be issued in each or any of the following types: 

(A) Kindergarten-primary, valid for teaching in kindergarten, first, second, and third grades; 

(B) Elementary, valid for teaching in grades one to eight; 

(C) Middle grades, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate in grades four to nine; 

(D) High school, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate in grades seven to twelve; 

(E) Special, valid for teaching any subject named in such certificate in grades kindergarten to twelve, or in such other special fields as are included in public school curricula; 

(F) Elementary principal, valid for teaching or supervision in grades kindergarten to eight; 

(G) Middle school principal, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate or for supervision in grades four to nine; 

(H) High school principal, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate or for supervision in grades seven to twelve; 

(I) Supervisor, valid for supervising and teaching subjects named in such certificate in grades kindergarten to twelve; 

(J) Superintendent, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate, for supervising in grades kindergarten to twelve or for administrative duties in a school system; 

(K) Vocational, valid for teaching and supervising vocational agriculture, vocational distributive education, vocational home economics, or vocational trade and industrial programs as named in such certificates; 

(L) Assistant superintendent, valid for supervising in grades kindergarten to twelve or for administrative duties in the school system; 

(M) Pupil-personnel workers, including school psychologists, valid for the conduct of all home-school-community relations incident to the adjustment of pupils to the facilities available for their education; 

(N) Local superintendent, valid for teaching the subjects named in such certificate and for supervision and administration in a local school district; 

(O) Educational administrative specialists, valid for those special areas of educational administration in a school system, other than superintendent, assistant superintendent, local superintendent, supervisor, or principal, as are specified and defined in such certificate; 

(P) School nurse, valid for the conduct and coordination of school health service programs; 

(Q) Bilingual multicultural, valid for teaching in bilingual multicultural programs in any subject or grade for which the certificate holder is otherwise certificated.
