§ 4510.15. Suspension or revocation of license for reckless operation violation.
 

Whenever a person is found guilty under the laws of this state, or under any ordinance of any political subdivision of this state, of operating a motor vehicle in violation of any such law or ordinance relating to reckless operation, the trial court of any court of record, in addition to or independent of all other penalties provided by law, may impose a class five suspension of the offender's driver's or commercial driver's license or permit or nonresident operating privilege from the range specified in division (A)(5) of section 4510.02 of the Revised Code. 
 

Suspension of a commercial driver's license under this section shall be concurrent with any period of suspension disqualification under section 3123.58 or 4506.16 of the Revised Code. No person who is disqualified for life from holding a commercial driver's license under section 4506.16 of the Revised Code shall be issued a driver's license under chapter 4507. of the Revised Code during the period for which the commercial driver's license was suspended under this section, and no person whose commercial driver's license is suspended under this section shall be issued a driver's license under chapter 4507. of the Revised Code during the period of the suspension.

Effect of Amendments

150 v H 52, effective June 1, 2004, in the first paragraph, deleted "of reckless operation of a motor vehicle" following "found guilty", and inserted "of operating a motor vehicle in violation of any such law or ordinance relating to reckless operation". 

S.B. 123, Acts 2002, effective January 1, 2004, in the introductory paragraph, inserted "of reckless operation of a motor vehicle", deleted "of operating a motor vehicle in violation of such laws or ordinances, relating to reckless operation" following "subdivision of this state", substituted "may impose a class five suspension of the offender's driver's" for "suspend for any period of time or revoke the driver's license", and "or permit or nonresident operating privilege from the range specified in division (A)(5) of section 4510.02 of the Revised Code" for "of any person so convicted or pleading guilty to such offenses for any period that it determines, not to exceed one year"; in the second paragraph, inserted "suspension", substituted "3123.58" for "3123.611", "Chapter 4507. of the Revised Code" for "this chapter" twice, and deleted "or period of suspension under section 3123.58 of the Revised Code" preceding the last sentence.
