Download as PDF CHAPTER 27-04 OTHER OFFICIALS OF SUPREME COURT 27-04-01. Supreme court reporter - Appointment, qualifications, term, titles. The judges of the supreme court shall appoint a person who is experienced and learned in the law and of known integrity to act as supreme court reporter, state law librarian, and legislative reference librarian. Such person shall hold office during the pleasure of such judges and generally must be known as the supreme court reporter. 27-04-02. Bond of supreme court reporter. Repealed by S.L. 1999, ch. 113, § 24. 27-04-03. Salary of supreme court reporter. The salary of the supreme court reporter must be within the amount appropriated for salaries by the legislative assembly. 27-04-04. Location of office of supreme court reporter. The supreme court reporter shall have an office in the state capitol. 27-04-05. Opinions and reports of supreme court printed and published by reporter. Repealed by S.L. 1969, ch. 277, § 2. 27-04-06. Reporter's duties as to state law library. The supreme court reporter, subject to the supervision and control of the supreme court, shall have the care and custody of the state law library and shall perform such duties in connection with the maintenance and operation of the same as the supreme court, by rule or regulation, may provide. 27-04-07. Reporter's duties as legislative reference librarian. The supreme court reporter shall perform the duties of a legislative reference librarian and shall give information and assistance to the members of the legislative assembly in their legislative work. 27-04-08. Sale and disposal of books and other library materials by supreme court reporter. The supreme court reporter, subject to the direction and control of the supreme court and under such rules and regulations as it may prescribe, may sell or otherwise dispose of such books, pamphlets, leaflets, periodicals, and other library materials as come within the reporter's care and custody as the state law librarian and as are determined by the supreme court to be obsolete or to be useful in trade for other books, pamphlets, leaflets, periodicals, and other library materials. All money received from the sale of such library materials must be paid to such reporter and must be deposited by the reporter monthly in the state treasury. 27-04-08.1. Secretary of state to purchase certain property and publication rights. Repealed by omission from this code. 27-04-09. Court security. The state highway patrol and other law enforcement agencies, at the request of the chief justice, shall provide security services to the supreme court when the court considers those services to be necessary. 27-04-10. Sheriff acting as marshal liable on official bond. Repealed by S.L. 1983, ch. 347, § 2. Page No. 1 27-04-11. Appointment and duties of bailiff of supreme court - Compensation of bailiff. The judges of the supreme court may designate the supreme court reporter, or any other person, to act as bailiff of such court and may prescribe the duties of such bailiff. The supreme court reporter, if designated to act as bailiff, shall receive no additional compensation therefor, but any other person so designated may be allowed by such court such compensation for that person's services as may be reasonable.
