Article 11-AAAA - Supplemental Service Awards for Volunteer Ambulance Workers and Firefighters
219-Q - Definitions.

§ 219-q. Definitions. 1. "Participant" means a participant as defined in subdivision six of section two hundred nineteen-c of this chapter, subdivision seven of section two hundred fifteen of this chapter and subdivision eight of section two hundred nineteen-k of this chapter. Participant also includes individuals who served as volunteer firefighters or ambulance workers in the timeframe specified by the program sponsor, prior to the enactment of the service award program.

2. "Supplemental award" means the benefit payable pursuant to a supplemental award program.

3. "Supplemental award program" or "program" means a plan established, adopted and maintained under this article to provide awards for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.

4. "Decade of service" means:

(a) ten calendar years during which a participant accumulates at least fifty points in accordance with the service awards program established pursuant to article eleven-A, eleven-AA or eleven-AAA of this chapter; or

(b) ten calendar years for which the participant can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the sponsor, that he or she substantially met the standards for active service during those ten years.
