§ 1901. Costs; amount. Costs upon issue joined and after trial shall be calculated as follows: (a) for money only: for one hundred dollars or under, five dollars; for every additional one hundred dollars or fractional part thereof, five dollars. (b) for the recovery of a chattel: the amounts provided by subdivision (a), based upon the value of the chattel as determined by the judgment or claimed by the adverse party, as the case may be.
