2006 New York Code - Lighted Matches, Cigars, Cigarettes, Discarding Of, Regulated.



 
    §   27-4272   Lighted  matches,  cigars,  cigarettes,  discarding  of,
  regulated.   It shall be unlawful for  any  person  to  throw  away  any
  lighted  match,  cigar or cigarette within any building or structure, or
  in any boat, car or other vehicle for the common carriage of  passengers
  unless  it  be  to  deposit the same in a suitable container of metal or
  other non-combustible material provided for the reception  thereof.  Any
  person  who  shall  violate,  or  refuse,  or neglect to comply with any
  provision of this section, shall, upon conviction thereof,  be  punished
  by  a  fine of not more than one hundred dollars, or by imprisonment not
  exceeding thirty days, or by both; and any such person shall, also,  for
  each offense, be subject to the payment of a penalty in the sum of fifty
  dollars  to  be  recovered  in a civil action brought in the name of the
  commissioner.
