2006 New York Code - Municipal Lodging Houses.
§ 21-114 Municipal lodging houses. a. The commissioner shall have jurisdiction over, and it shall be his or her duty to take charge of all municipal lodging houses belonging to or hereafter acquired or established by the city. b. It shall be the duty of the commissioner or of the superintendent of any municipal lodging house acting under such commissioner or superintendent, to provide for any applicants for shelter who, in his or her judgment, may properly be received, plain and wholesome food and lodging for a night, free of charge, and also to cause such applicants to be bathed on admission and their clothing to be steamed and disinfected.
