    §  404.  Sheriff  or  constable  not  required  to attend special term
  supreme court in certain cases. Where a  special  term  of  the  supreme
  court  is  adjourned to the chambers of a justice of the court, pursuant
  to section one hundred and forty-seven of this chapter,  the  attendance
  of the sheriff or a constable is not required unless the justice directs
  them to attend.
