    § 509. Interpretation and separability. The provisions of this article
  shall  be  held  to  be  in  addition to, and not in substitution for or
  limitation of, the provisions of any other law of  this  state.  If  any
  provision  of  this  article or the application thereof to any person or
  circumstances is held invalid the  remainder  of  the  article  and  the
  application  of such provision to any other person or circumstance shall
  not be affected thereby.
