§ 160-j. Examination prerequisites. 1. Certified general classification. As a prerequisite to taking the examination for certification as a state certified general real estate appraiser, an applicant shall present evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has at least a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma and has successfully completed not less than one hundred fifty classroom hours of courses in subjects related to real estate appraisal from a recognized appraisal organization, college, school or university approved by the board, plus fifteen classroom hours related to standards of professional practice and the provisions of this article. 2. Certified residential classification. As a prerequisite to taking the examination for certification as a state certified residential real estate appraiser, an applicant shall present evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has at least a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma and has successfully completed not less than ninety classroom hours of courses in subjects related to real estate appraisal from a recognized appraisal organization, school, college or university approved by the board, plus fifteen classroom hours related to standards of professional practice and the provisions of this article. 3. Licensed classification. As a prerequisite to taking the examination for licensing as a state licensed real estate appraiser, an applicant shall present evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has at least a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma and has successfully completed not less than sixty classroom hours of courses in subjects related to real estate appraisal from a recognized appraisal organization, school, college or university approved by the board, plus fifteen classroom hours related to standards of professional practice and the provisions of this article.
