Section 59A-11-4 - Temporary licenses.

59A-11-4. Temporary licenses.

A. Where temporary license is otherwise provided for in the Insurance Code as to a particular category of licensee, application therefor shall be made in the same manner as applies to permanent license under Chapter 59A, Article 11 NMSA 1978 with such modification therein as the superintendent may prescribe, and without payment of examination fee.

B. The superintendent may issue a temporary insurance producer license for a period not to exceed one hundred eighty days without requiring an examination if the superintendent deems that the temporary license is necessary for the servicing of an insurance business in accordance with the Insurance Code.

The 2016 amendment, effective July 1. 2017, authorized the superintendent of insurance to issue temporary insurance producer licenses without requiring an examination, and provided for the maximum duration of a temporary license; designated the language in the former section as Subsection A; in Subsection A, after "permanent license under", deleted "this article" and added "Chapter 59A, Article 11 NMSA 1978"; and added a new Subsection B.

Severability.Laws 2016, ch. 89, § 71 provided that if any part or application of Laws 2016, ch. 89 is held invalid, the remainder or its application to other situations or persons shall not be affected.
