CHAPTER 399-D — DEBT ADJUSTMENT SERVICES
Section 399-D:17 Licensee Not to Perform Legal Services or be Associated With Attorney.

Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed to authorize any licensee to engage in and no licensee shall engage in the practice of law; offer to perform or perform any legal service; or offer to give, or give any legal advice. No licensee shall by any means represent or imply that he or she is authorized or competent to furnish legal advice or perform legal services; assume authority on behalf of any creditor or debtor or accept a power of attorney authorizing him or her to employ or terminate the services of an attorney or to arrange the terms of, or compensate for, such services; communicate with any debtor or creditor or any other person in the name of an attorney or upon the stationery of an attorney; prepare any form or instrument which only an attorney is authorized to prepare; be associated, directly or indirectly, with any attorney; borrow money from or pledge assets to any attorney; or refer any debtor to any particular attorney.
