Chapter 293 - Elections
NRS 293.5732 - Establishment of system for electronic transmission of voter registration information as part of certain transactions with Department; requirements for system. [Effective through December 31, 2024.]

1. The Secretary of State and the Department of Motor Vehicles shall cooperatively establish a system by which voter registration information that is collected pursuant to NRS 293.5742 by the Department from a person who submits an application for the issuance or renewal of or change of address for any type of driver’s license or identification card issued by the Department must be transmitted electronically to the database created by the Secretary of State pursuant to NRS 293.675 for the purpose of registering the person to vote or updating the voter registration information of the person for the purpose of correcting the statewide voter registration list pursuant to NRS 293.530.

2. The system established pursuant to subsection 1 must:

(a) Ensure the secure electronic storage of information collected pursuant to NRS 293.5742, the secure transmission of such information to the database created by the Secretary of State pursuant to NRS 293.675 and the secure electronic storage of such information in the database;

(b) Provide for the destruction of records by the Department as required by subsection 2 of NRS 293.5747; and

(c) Enable the county clerks to receive, view and collate the information into individual electronic documents pursuant to paragraph (c) of subsection 1 of NRS 293.5742.
