61-3-319. Registration of custom-built motorcycle -- exemptions

61-3-319. Registration of custom-built motorcycle -- exemptions. (1) Upon original registration of a custom-built motorcycle, the owner of the custom-built motorcycle shall:

(a) pay the fees required in 61-3-321, plus an additional $10 fee, to be deposited in the state general fund;

(b) certify, in writing, that the motorcycle is:

(i) not used for general transportation purposes; and

(ii) is equipped as required by the state law in effect in the year of manufacture of the motorcycle, as determined under 61-3-214.

(2) A custom-built motorcycle registered under this section is exempt from vehicle equipment requirements under chapter 9 of this title unless the equipment was required under state law in the year of manufacture of the motorcycle, as listed on the registration receipt for the motorcycle and determined under 61-3-214.
