325F.814 BODY PIERCING.

Subdivision 1.Prohibition.

No person may provide body piercing services for a person under the age of 18 without the written consent of a parent or legal guardian. The provider of the services must witness the execution and dating of the consent by the parent or legal guardian.

Subd. 2.Definition.

For the purposes of this section, "body piercing" means the perforation of any human body part other than an earlobe for the purpose of inserting jewelry or other decoration or for some other nonmedical purpose.

Subd. 3.Penalties.

(a) A person who violates subdivision 1 is guilty of a misdemeanor.

(b) The public and private remedies in section 8.31 apply to violations of this section.
