Sec. 12a.

(1) The commissioner or an examiner, investigator, or other person the commissioner may appoint, may visit and examine the affairs of any cemetery or person required to register under this act and shall have free access to the books, papers, records, and documents of the cemetery corporation, person, affiliated person, or agent acting on its behalf that relate to the business of the cemetery or person required to register under this act.

(2) The books, papers, records, and documents shall be available for inspection or audit at any time during regular business hours with reasonable notice. One or more qualified persons designated by the commissioner shall conduct the audit, whose services shall be charged to and paid by the cemetery.
