Sec. 520.

Whenever it shall come to the knowledge of any township, city or village clerk that there is probable illegal or fraudulent registration in his township, city or village, or in any ward or precinct thereof, he shall have power and it shall be his duty to make full investigation of the facts concerning such registration and to ascertain whether any names have been illegally or fraudulently registered.
