Act 203 of 1965 28.605 Commission on law enforcement standards; officers; terms; limitations of power; disqualification from public office or employment. Sec. 5. (1) The commission shall elect from among its members a chairperson and a vice-chairperson who shall serve for 1-year terms and who may be reelected. (2) Membership on the commission does not constitute holding a public office, and members of the commission are not required to take and file oaths of office before serving on the commission. (3) The commission does not have the right to exercise any portion of the sovereign power of the state. (4) A member of the commission is not disqualified from holding any public office or employment by reason of his or her appointment or membership on the commission and shall not forfeit any public office or employment because of his or her appointment to the commission, notwithstanding any general, special, or local law, ordinance, or city charter.
