CHAPTER 30 GENERAL PROVISIONS RELATIVE TO STATE DEPARTMENTS, COMMISSIONS, OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
Section 7 Confidential secretaries; appointment and removal

Section 7. Each officer, board and commission having supervision and control of an executive or administrative department, including the commissioner of administration, the first deputy commissioner of administration, the comptroller, the purchasing agent, the budget director, the personnel administrator and the the commissioner of industrial accidents in the department of labor and workforce development, each commissioner of the department of banking and insurance, the state superintendent of buildings, the alcoholic beverages control commission and the state racing commission, but not including the several boards serving in the division of registration, may appoint and remove a person to serve as a confidential secretary. Such appointment shall be in accordance with the provisions of sections forty-five to fifty, inclusive, and shall be exempt from the provisions of sections nine A and nine B of chapter thirty and from the provisions of chapter thirty-one.
