Title 1 - Definitions; General Provisions
§ 1-101. Definitions

  • (a) In general. -- In this article the following words have the meanings indicated.
  • (b) Annual consultation tour. -- Repealed by Acts 1985, ch. 11, § 1, effective October 1, 1985.
  • (c) Any state. -- "Any state" means:
    • (1) Any state, possession, or territory of the United States;
    • (2) The District of Columbia; and
    • (3) The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • (d) Consolidated Transportation Program. -- "Consolidated Transportation Program" means the document described in § 2-103.1 of this article.
  • (e) County. -- "County" means a county of this State and Baltimore City.
  • (f) Department. -- "Department" means the State Department of Transportation and includes the Office of the Secretary and the modal administrations.
  • (g) Includes; including. -- "Includes" or "including" means, unless the context clearly requires otherwise, includes or including by way of illustration and not by way of limitation.
  • (h) Maryland Transportation Plan. -- "Maryland Transportation Plan" means the document described in § 2-103.1 of this article.
  • (i) Modal administration. -- "Modal administration" means any of the following:
    • (1) The State Aviation Administration;
    • (2) The Maryland Port Administration;
    • (3) The Maryland Transit Administration;
    • (4) The State Highway Administration; or
    • (5) The Motor Vehicle Administration.
  • (j) Person. -- "Person" includes:
    • (1) An individual, receiver, trustee, guardian, executor, administrator, fiduciary, or representative of any kind and any partnership, firm, association, public or private corporation, or other entity; and
    • (2) Unless the context requires otherwise, this State, any county, municipal corporation, or other political subdivision of this State, and any of their agencies or units.
  • (k) Political subdivision. -- "Political subdivision" includes:
    • (1) Any county or municipal corporation; and
    • (2) Unless the context requires otherwise, any special taxing district.
  • (l) Property. -- "Property" means any real or personal property or any interest in real or personal property, and includes any franchise or easement.
  • (m) Secretary. -- "Secretary" means the State Secretary of Transportation.
  • (n) State Report on Transportation. -- "State Report on Transportation" means the report described in § 2-103.1 of this article.
