Article - State Government

§ 9-911.

      (a)      The Commission shall have a service center in Baltimore City, which shall be the principal office of the Commission.

      (b)      (1)      The Commission may:

                  (i)      have any additional service centers that the Commission considers necessary or advisable to facilitate and expedite the servicing of claims of veterans and dependents; and

                  (ii)      close any additional service center that the Commission no longer considers necessary.

            (2)      The Commission shall try to locate each additional service center:

                  (i)      centrally in the area to be served so that the greatest number of veterans:

                        1.      have access with the least possible delay, travel, and inconvenience; and

                        2.      receive, as far as possible, personal attention; and

                  (ii)      in space that is provided rent-free.

      (c)      The Commission and the Department shall coordinate, as much as possible, with other appropriate units to:

            (1)      avoid an overlap of effort; and

            (2)      provide, if possible, at 1 service center or in 1 general local area, complete information about the problems that relate to veterans.

      (d)      The Director shall supervise the service centers.
