§ 19-323.

      (a)      (1)      Except as provided under paragraphs (2) and (3) of this subsection, a license for a related institution or a nonaccredited hospital expires on the first anniversary of its effective date, unless the license is renewed for a 1-year term as provided in this section.

            (2)      A license for an accredited hospital expires when the certificate of accreditation expires.

            (3)      A license for a nursing facility and an assisted living program as defined under Subtitle 18 of this title shall be for a 2-year term.

      (b)      Before the license expires, the licensee periodically may renew it for an additional term, if the licensee:

            (1)      Otherwise is entitled to the license;

            (2)      Pays to the Secretary the renewal fee set by the Secretary in regulations; and

            (3)      Submits to the Secretary:

                  (i)      A renewal application on the form that the Secretary requires; and

                  (ii)      Satisfactory evidence of compliance with any requirements set under this subtitle for license renewal.

      (c)      The Secretary shall renew the license of each licensee who meets the requirements of this section.
