Article - County Commissioners

§ 226.

      (a)      If the governing body of a county or municipal corporation determines that the power to provide, establish, maintain and conduct a comprehensive program of public recreation and parks shall be exercised by a board, or commission, the governing body shall by resolution or ordinance or appropriate local law establish in such county or municipal corporation a recreation and park board or commission which shall possess all the powers granted to it by the governing body. The membership, terms and compensation of the recreation and park board or commission shall be determined by the governing body of the county or municipal corporation. Provided, however, that one member of a recreation and park board or commission established by a county shall be a member of the county governing body and another member shall be a member or designated representative of the county board of education. Both of these members shall have terms of one year and may be reappointed.

      (b)      In Frederick County:

            (1)      The county governing body member of the Commission has a term coextensive with his term of elected office; and

            (2)      A member of the county board of education is a member of the Commission.
