§149.1. Duties; powers

RS 149.1 - Duties; powers

A. The capitol police shall be responsible for maintaining general order and exercising reasonable police power on the property of the state of Louisiana under the supervision of the superintendent of state buildings and grounds, and on the property comprising the state capitol complex.

B. For the purposes of this Subpart, the term "state capitol complex" shall mean that area in the city of Baton Rouge containing the state capitol building and its grounds, further described as follows:

Starting at a point on the northeast corner of Riverside Mall and North Street, proceed east along the north side of North Street to North Fifth Street, north along the west side of North Fifth Street to Lakeland Drive, east along the north side of Lakeland Drive to North Sixth Street, north along the west side of North Sixth Street to State Capitol Drive, east along State Capitol Drive; including property to the banks of Capitol Lake; to the bridge across Capitol Lake, north across Capitol Lake to the east/west state property line, west along the property line to the east side of Front Street, south along the east side of Front Street to the state property line south of the Department of Health and Human Resources building parking lots, east along this south property line to the east side of Riverside Mall, and south on the east side of Riverside Mall to the point of beginning.

The term "state capitol complex" shall further mean and include all properties formerly owned by Our Lady of the Lake Hospital; bounded on the west by the east side of Riverside Mall, on the south and east by Capitol Lake and on the north by its north property line.
