§923. Rape crisis treatment services

A. Each state owned and operated medical acute care hospital in the state shall establish, operate, and maintain a rape crisis treatment services program. The director of the bureau of women within the Department of Health and Hospitals shall be responsible for the coordination of the rape crisis treatment services program in each hospital, including the training of personnel necessary to carry out the provisions of this Section.

B. Each state owned and operated medical acute care hospital shall have a rape counselor or a system of rape counseling designed to insure that the needs of rape victims are met.

C. There shall be assigned to each rape crisis treatment services program a sufficient number of registered staff nurses to assure that a nurse is designated to be on call at all times.

D. A physician on the staff of each hospital shall be designated to be on call to provide rape treatment services on a twenty-four hour basis.

E. The secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals shall promulgate rules and regulations for the provision of rape treatment services in accordance with generally accepted rape treatment practices and the Administrative Procedure Act.

F. Each rape services treatment program shall develop links with other providers of services to rape victims in the community.
