§463.4.3. Manufacture, sale, possession, or use of counterfeit mobility-impaired parking placards; penalties

A. It shall be unlawful to manufacture, sell, possess, or use a counterfeit mobility-impaired parking placard which is a facsimile of the mobility-impaired parking placards issued by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 47:463.4. Additionally, a person shall be in violation of the provisions of this Section and handicapped parking regulations if he knowingly parks a vehicle displaying a counterfeit mobility-impaired parking placard in a parking space or area reserved for persons with disabilities.

B. Any person who violates the provisions of this Section shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more than two hundred fifty dollars, or shall be imprisoned for not more than thirty days, or both for a first offense. Any person committing a subsequent offense shall be fined not less than two hundred fifty dollars nor more than five hundred dollars, or shall be imprisoned for not more than ninety days, or both. The penalties provided by this Subsection shall be in addition to other applicable penalties.
