§2802. Structure and composition of the task force

A. The secretary shall determine the number of members of the task force and appoint the members, unless otherwise specified, with the following members to serve:

(1) The governor, or her designee.

(2) The secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, or his designee.

(3) The chairmen of the House and Senate committees on health and welfare, or their designees.

(4) The family medicine department chairs of each Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accredited medical school in the state.

(5) The president of the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians or his designee.

(6) A representative of the Louisiana Rural Caucus.

(7) A representative of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.

(8) A representative of the Rural Hospital Association.

(9) A representative from each regional Area Health Education Center.

(10) Two representatives from the Louisiana Community-Based Family Medicine Residency Programs.

(11) Two lay members to be appointed by the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians.

(12) A representative of the Health Works Commission.

(13) A representative of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.

(14) A representative of the Louisiana Primary Care Association.

(15) The president of Xavier University of Louisiana, or his designee.

B. The members of the task force shall serve at the pleasure of each appointing authority.

C. The secretary shall designate a member of the task force to serve as presiding officer.

D. The task force shall meet at the call of the presiding officer.

E. No member of the task force shall receive compensation for serving on the task force, but shall be entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses incurred while conducting the business of the task force. Legislative members shall be entitled to per diem and expenses in accordance with the rules of the legislature.

F. The department shall provide the staff necessary to assist the task force in performing its duties.
