§842.  General qualifications

No security or other investment shall be eligible for purchase or acquisition under this Part unless it is interest bearing or interest accruing or dividend or income paying or eligible for dividends or income, is not then in default in any respect, and the insurer is entitled to receive for its exclusive account and benefit, the interest or income accruing thereon; except that it may acquire real property for occupancy by the insurer for home and branch office purposes, and as provided in R.S. 22:844 and 845.  No security shall be eligible for purchase at a price above its market value.
