CERTIFICATION COMMISSION

§1236.15.  Legislative intent

The legislature hereby finds and declares that it is in the best interests of the health and safety of the public and the biomedical waste industry to regulate the handling and treatment of biomedical waste that consists of human blood or bodily fluids as a result of death, serious injury, or illness, thereby preventing the spread of tuberculosis, meningitis, syphilis and other venereal diseases, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and other infectious diseases.  Unregulated collection and cleanup of trauma scene waste does not adequately meet the needs or interests of the public.  Therefore, it is the purpose of this Subpart to provide for the regulation of the practice of safe and uniform management of trauma scene waste.
