CHAPTER 27.  LOUISIANA STATE RADIO AND

TELEVISION TECHNICIANS BOARD

§2301.  General provisions

In order to protect the public welfare, aid the department of revenue in collecting sales taxes on labor and on retail prices of material used in the service and maintenance of radio and television receivers, playback and recording devices, video cassette recorders, and satellite signal receiving equipment, to protect privately owned property and to provide an adequate supply of skilled technicians throughout the state by the establishment of an apprenticeship program in accordance with the state apprentice training program or by requiring sufficient prior education in electronics, any person rendering or offering to render professional service for the maintenance and repair of any type of radio and television receivers, playback and recording device equipment, video cassette recorders, and satellite signal receiving equipment, as defined in R.S. 37:2302(2) shall hereafter be required to be registered and licensed as hereinafter provided, and it shall be unlawful for any person to practice or offer to practice in the state of Louisiana, radio and television receiver, playback and recording device, video cassette recorder, and satellite signal receiving equipment maintenance and repair service as defined in R.S. 37:2302(2) unless duly registered and licensed in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter, there is hereby created a board to be known as the Louisiana State Radio and Television Technicians Board.
