§2111.  Qualifications of applicants

On January 15, 1959, and thereafter, a person aspiring to become a sanitarian in the state of Louisiana shall be a graduate of a course in sanitation at a recognized school.  In lieu thereof, a person may have a degree which includes basic studies in the physical, biological, and socio-economic sciences, plus a minimum of one year of field experience, which shall include the successful completion of a training course in sanitation.  The board of examiners shall be vested with the authority to designate in detail the types and length of the required training in sanitation and the types of experience necessary.  When the above requirements become effective, they shall not be retroactive for those who have been licensed by the board as sanitarians or have been granted permits to work as sanitarian trainees and who obtained their licenses or permits prior to January 15, 1955, as provided elsewhere in this Chapter.
