§1639.  Deferred Retirement Option Plan

A.  In lieu of terminating employment and accepting a service allowance, any member of this system who is an active contributing member upon becoming eligible for normal retirement pursuant to R.S. 11:1632(A), or for the unreduced benefits under R.S. 11:1633(5) may elect to participate in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan and defer the receipt of benefits in accordance with the provisions of R.S. 11:1639 through 1643.

B.  An election to participate in the plan may be made only once, for a specified period not to exceed three years. Once specified, the period of participation may not be extended.
