§607.  Department of Public Safety and Corrections Police Officer Fund

The Department of Public Safety and Corrections Police Officer Fund is hereby created as a special fund in the state treasury, hereafter referred to as the "fund", for the purposes of funding retirement benefits of peace officers as defined in R.S. 40:2402(1)(a) other than state troopers, who are employed by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police.  Any monies in the fund not used for retirement benefits as provided in this Section may be used to support the operations of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Capitol Complex police force.  All unexpended and unencumbered monies in the fund at the end of the fiscal year shall remain in the fund.
