§1949.  Purchase of services by parishes

A local educational agency, according to procedures established by the Department of Education with the approval of its governing authority, may enter into a purchase of services agreement with any other public or nonpublic school, agency, or institution to provide free appropriate education to children with exceptionalities in need of special education and related services, provided that any such school, agency, or institution from which services are purchased meets standards approved by the Department of Education with the approval of its governing authority. In purchasing such services, the local educational agency is authorized to negotiate a contract for special education and related services in accordance with R.S. 17:100.1 and 105.
