§85.5.  Naming of gymnasium by certain school boards

Notwithstanding R.S. 14:316 or any other law to the contrary, a parish school board in a parish having a population between forty thousand and sixty thousand persons according to the most recent federal decennial census may name a gymnasium in the parish in honor of a former school board member who meets all of the following criteria:

(1)  He began serving as a member of the school board in the parish where the gymnasium is located before 1975.

(2)  He served as a member of the school board in the parish where the gymnasium is located for at least twenty-five years and retired after 2002.

(3)  He is at least seventy years of age and he attended elementary school and graduated from high school in the parish where the gymnasium is located.
