61.097 Involvement of local government officers, employees, and their spouses in contracts for solid waste management facilities -- Effect on contract -Penalties. (1) (2) No elected or nonelected local government officer or employee or a spouse of such an officer or employee shall, directly or indirectly, receive any benefits or emoluments from, furnish any material or other thing of value to be used in, or be interested in, any contract let by waste management districts, counties, cities, or any combination thereof, for a solid waste management facility. Any contract made and procured in violation of subsection (1) of this section is void. Any elected or nonelected local government officer or employee who violates any provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor, and shall be adjudged to have forfeited any public office or employment which he may hold. An elected or nonelected local government officer or employee's spouse who violates any provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor.
