196.065 . Forensic psychiatric facility -- Initiation of mental hospitalization proceedings against inmate. (1) (2) The department shall operate a forensic psychiatric facility to provide mental health care for persons convicted of a crime who are committed to the department. This care shall be provided by the department for the duration of the person's sentence. The department shall initiate or be responsible for initiation of hospitalization proceedings under KRS Chapter 202A or 202B for any inmate who needs mental health care at the expiration of his sentence.
