314.452 Nursing Workforce Foundation -- Board

Membership

As used in KRS 314.450 to 314.464, "board" means the board of the Nursing
Workforce Foundation.
The Nursing Workforce Foundation is created and shall be governed by a
board composed of members who are residents of Kentucky appointed by the
Governor.
The foundation shall be governed by a board, the membership of which shall
consist of the following:
(a) President, or a designee, of the Kentucky Community and Technical
College System;
(b) President, or a designee, of the Association of Independent Kentucky
Colleges and Universities;
(c) President, or a designee, of the Council on Postsecondary Education;
(d) Secretary, or a designee, of the Education and Workforce Development
Cabinet;
(e) Executive director, or a designee, of the Kentucky Board of Nursing;
(f) President, or a designee, of the Kentucky Nurses Association;
(g) President, or a designee, of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners
and Nurse Midwives;
(h) President, or a designee, of the Kentucky Council of Associate Degree
Nursing Programs;
(i) Chair, or a designee, of the Kentucky Association of Baccalaureate and
Higher Degree Nursing Programs; and
(j) Two (2) members from a list of three (3) individuals recommended by the
Kentucky Hospital Association, with one (1) representing a rural hospital
and one (1) representing an urban hospital.
The board shall elect a chairman from its members. The board shall meet at
least four (4) times a year and at the call of the chairman or a majority of the
board members. A majority of the board membership shall constitute a quorum.
Each hospital representative appointment shall be for a term of four (4) years.
A vacancy on the board
shall be filled by the Governor as provided under
this section.
Members of the board shall be entitled to reimbursement for expenses when
carrying out official duties of the board in accordance with state administrative
regulations relating to travel reimbursement.
The board shall employ or contract with a qualified person or nonprofit
organization to serve as executive director to the board and shall fix the
compensation and define the duties. The executive director shall be
responsible for the performance of the administrative functions of the board
and such other duties as the board may direct. The board may employ or
contract with other persons as may be necessary to carry on the work of the
board.
The board shall be a nonprofit, quasi-governmental corporation subject to the

Records Law and Kentucky Open Meetings Law. The
board shall have any and all general corporate, trust, or other powers
reasonable or necessary to fulfill the requirements and purposes of KRS
314.450 to 314.464.
The provisions of KRS 314.450 to 314.464 shall be funded by any grants, gifts,
and contributions received by the board or other general funds appropriated by
the General Assembly.
