Section 75-5308e Mental health and developmental disabilities established; administration of mental health and developmental disabilities; commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities, appointment and compensation.

75-5308e. Mental health and developmental disabilities established; administration of mental health and developmental disabilities; commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities, appointment and compensation. There is hereby established, within and as a part of the department of social and rehabilitation services and under the supervision of the secretary of social and rehabilitation services, mental health and developmental disabilities, the head of which shall be the commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of the secretary of social and rehabilitation services, the commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities shall administer mental health and developmental disabilities. The secretary of social and rehabilitation services shall appoint the commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities, and the commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of the secretary of social and rehabilitation services. The commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities shall be in the unclassified service of the Kansas civil service act and shall receive an annual salary fixed by the secretary of social and rehabilitation services and approved by the governor.
