74-5032. Division of travel and tourism development, establishment, administration and purpose; director of travel and tourism development, appointment, authority and compensation. There is hereby established within and as a part of the department of commerce a division of travel and tourism development, the head of which shall be the director of travel and tourism development. The purpose of the division of travel and tourism development shall be to increase the number of visitors to Kansas by promoting the state as a travel and learning opportunity to both Kansans and non-Kansans alike. Under the supervision of the secretary of commerce, the director of travel and tourism development shall administer the division of travel and tourism development. The secretary of commerce shall appoint the director of travel and tourism development and the director shall serve at the pleasure of the secretary. The director of travel and tourism development shall be in the unclassified service under the Kansas civil service act and shall receive an annual salary fixed by the secretary of commerce and approved by the governor.
